The Red Balloon

The room became completely silent.

The doctor continued staring at the red balloon.

“Who brought this?” he asked.

Every family member shook their head.

The nurse checked the visitor log.

Nobody had entered the room carrying a balloon.

The father slowly untied the white tag.

On the back was another message.

“Look Above.”

Everyone raised their eyes toward the ceiling.

There, hidden inside the ceiling lights, was a tiny old photograph.

The doctor carefully reached up and removed it.

The picture showed the exact same delivery suite.

The same red balloon floated above another newborn.

But the date printed in the corner was twenty-seven years old.

The mother whispered,

“That’s impossible…”

Suddenly, the balloon began drifting toward the hospital window by itself.

The newborn stopped crying and smiled.

The window slowly opened on its own.

The balloon floated outside, then stopped in midair.

Hanging beneath it was another folded note.

The father carefully opened it.

Inside were five chilling words:

“Meet Me On The Rooftop.”

Everyone looked at each other in shock.

The doctor slowly whispered,

“I know who left this…”

The room fell silent.

To Be Continued…
