The First Bottle
The nurse slowly handed the mysterious card to the father.
He read the words again.
“He Drinks Like Dad.”
A puzzled smile crossed his face.
“I’ve never seen this before.”
The mother carefully checked every corner of the baby’s blanket.
There was nothing else hidden inside.
The nurse quietly asked,
“Did any family member leave a gift?”
Both parents shook their heads.
Just then, an elderly volunteer entered the room carrying a small memory box for newborn families.
She noticed the card immediately.
Her expression changed.
“I’ve seen handwriting like this before.”
Everyone turned toward her.
She explained,
“Years ago, a father wrote little notes for every newborn in this hospital after his own son survived a difficult birth.”
The father looked down at the card.
His eyes widened.
The signature at the bottom read:
“From Dad… 1998.”
It was his own father’s handwriting.
His father had passed away many years earlier.
LTears filled his eyes.
He gently kissed his newborn’s forehead.
The nurse smiled softly.
“Some gifts don’t arrive in time…”
“They arrive exactly when they’re needed.”
The newborn looked up at his father and smiled for the very first time.
