The Family Surprise
The room remained completely silent
Nobody took their eyes off the photograph.
The father looked at the date printed in the corner.
His hands began shaking.
The photo had been taken fifteen years ago.
But the nursery had only been built six months earlier.
“That’s impossible,” he whispered.
The mother stepped closer.
The photograph clearly showed the same white crib.
The same wallpaper.
The same rocking chair.
Everything was identical.
Yet standing beside the crib was a young boy nobody recognized.
The older sister pointed at the picture.
“He’s smiling at the baby.”
Everyone froze.
There hadn’t even been a baby in the photograph.
Then Grandpa suddenly turned pale.
“I’ve seen that boy before.”
The room went quiet.
“What do you mean?” the father asked.
Grandpa slowly walked toward an old cabinet in the corner of the nursery.
From inside, he pulled out a dusty family album.
Nobody understood why.
He carefully opened it.
Page after page turned.
Then he stopped.
Everyone gasped.
A photograph inside the album showed the exact same boy.
The picture was over forty years old.
The mother covered her mouth.
“Who is he?”
Grandpa’s eyes filled with tears.
“My brother.”
The room froze.
“But he disappeared when he was six years old.”
Nobody spoke.
The family had never heard this story before.
Grandpa stared at the old photograph.
“The police never found him.”
The nurse looked at the newborn.
The baby was awake now.
Quietly staring toward the nursery door.
Then something moved.
A gift box sitting near the wall suddenly tipped over by itself.
Everyone jumped.
The father carefully walked over.
Inside the box was another envelope.
This one looked much older.
Written across the front were five chilling words:
“For My Family… When He Returns.”
Nobody breathed.
Slowly, the father opened it.
A single photograph slid onto the floor.
Everyone stared in disbelief.
It showed today’s family gathering.
The photo had been taken only minutes ago.
But standing behind the newborn’s crib…
was the same mysterious boy.
Looking directly at the camera.
Then the nursery lights flickered.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
And on the back of the photograph were four handwritten words:
“He Is Not Alone.”
